Over 100 years of commitment
to the Northern Territory.
We acknowledge the Larrakia people, the Traditional Owners of the Darwin region.
In Larrakia fish dreaming, a one-eyed trevally (‘galaguk damoe-ra doemgi-la’) swam across Darwin Harbour into the rocky escarpment below The Esplanade.
A spring was created, which provided fresh water for the Larrakia people at a place they called ‘Damoe-ra’, meaning ‘eye’ or ‘spring.’ Damoe-ra is a Larrakia site of significance.
In recognition of Larrakia country, we engaged Larrakia artist, Kootji Raymond, to design the goanna featured on this website.
